DAY 40 – THE KEY TO SPIRITUAL REVELATION
Title: The Key To Spiritual Revelation
Read and consider these verses for today
1 Corinthians 2: 9-11 “That is what is meant by the Scriptures which say that no mere man has ever seen, heard or even imagined what wonderful things God has ready for those who love the Lord. But we know about these things because God has sent his Spirit to tell us, and his Spirit searches out and shows all of God’s deepest secrets. No one can really know what anyone else is thinking, or what he is really like, except that person himself. And no one can know Gods thoughts except God’s own Spirit” (Living Bible).
We can actually “hear” from God! It is amazing to think that the Holy Spirit whispers God’s secrets in our ears. “Spirit can be known only by spirit-God’s Spirit and our spirits in open communication” (1 Corinthians 2:14 – Message). When we seek Him and walk with Him daily, He shares His wisdom with us and gives us understanding which will benefit us even in the practical matters of life.
How do we receive revelation from the Holy Spirit?
- 1. We Pray!
My prayer today: I desire to be free from self-consciousness and to be more Christ-conscious. How long will I continue to struggle with this insecurity? Oh, how I want to be liberated from me! Forgive me the pride that wants to appear as some image I have of myself. I renounce that image, I renounce the need to impress others, the need to be loved and approved of. Oh God, you are great and powerful in the pulling down of strongholds. Please pull this one down!
•2. We listen! The Holy Spirit speaks to us through the Word of God! The Holy Spirit can also prompt us or gives us “words” so that we might be strengthened in Christ. They will always align with the whole truth of the whole Bible.
My answer today: REST
Jeremiah 6:16, “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it and you will find rest for your souls” (NIV).
Matthew 11:29, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (NIV).
Isaiah 28:12, “This is the time and place to rest, to give rest to the weary. This is the place to lay down your burden” (Message).
Psalms 119:165, “…For those who love what you reveal, everything fits-no stumbling around in the dark for them” (Message).
The Holy Spirit impressed this word on my heart…”If you want to be liberated from yourself…know who you are in Christ! I have ordained that you be a simple and fruitful carrier of My Word. Do not try to be what you are not. Be what I made you to be…what you are. You are a lovely woman of God, and I will supply you with all you need when you need it. Be simple. Forget about yourself, so shall you bear much fruit.”
•3. We receive! Listening is part of receiving but not the whole of receiving. We must make sure that we understand what the Holy Spirit is revealing and we must remember it. This is why it is so important to meditate on the Word of God and to write it down in a journal.
I am walking in freedom today because I understood that the Lord was asking me to rest in Him, to trust Him! Hebrews 4:12, “For whatever God says to us is full of living power…” (Message)!
God wants us to receive all the power that is available to us! That’s why He wants us to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. We will receive super-natural power to witness with extraordinary results but we will also be strengthened with power to deal more effectively in the ordinary. We will have boldness, courage, confidence, ability, authority and revelation!
PRAY THIS PRAYER:
Dear Holy Spirit,
I want to receive all that You have for me! Please give me perfect liberty. Let that liberation be so real in me that the message will liberate others. I will do my part… pray, listen, and receive! I will wait for You to do Your part…anoint me! May the message that You’ve given me be set aflame by You!
MY TESTIMONY:
I was eight years old when I gave my life to Christ. At twenty-one, I rededicated my life. In 1986, we were living in Naperville, Illinois and going to Calvary Temple when the invitation was given to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. I grew up in a Baptist church so I had not received this invitation before. But I immediately responded to the invitation and went forward to receive.
Two thoughts entered my mind on the way to the altar. The first thought was that I wanted all that the Lord had for me. The second thought was that I knew the Holy Spirit was trustworthy. He had been there for me when I needed assurance of my salvation and that I would be with the Lord forever in heaven. He had directed me to John 14: 1-4, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. …You know the way to the place where I am going” (NIV).
At the altar, I raised my hands and began to open my mouth in praise to the Lord and I received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues! The Holy Spirit gave me such peace and joy and increased my hunger for God’s Word! My life has never been the same. Receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the key to spiritual revelation!
